Anti-Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP)
DILG advocates the government’s Anti-Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP) to local governments in the region. The program is being spearheaded by the Department of Education and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the National Nutrition Council with the support of other agencies.
In Region VI, the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Negros Occidental are beneficiaries of this program. Only Antique belongs to Priority 2 areas. To date, regional and provincial technical working groups cooperate to implement the program which provides rice allowance to Grade I pupils of public schools in target municipalities. It also encourages the establishment of Gulayan sa Paaralan which serves as the model garden of the community.
Early Childhood Care and Development
The Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) is a three-year cost-sharing program of the national and provincial governments that provides for the implementation and sustainability of the ECCD programs and projects implemented to target LGUs. In the whole Philippines, only San Carlos City, Negros Occidental and Roxas City, Capiz are self-starting LGUs that undertake the implementation of ECCD program. Read more
